1. MARATHI VISHWA ANANDI GOPAL SCHOLARSHIP

Each year Marathi Vishwa awards two scholarships in remembrance of Dr. Anandibai Gopal Joshi. Anandibai was the first female doctor whose life illustrated the need for social reform, the role of education and women's rights in India.

These scholarships are awarded to two undergraduate and one graduate student.
The criteria for selecting the winner is based on academic excellence, participation in extracurricular activities, leadership qualities and outstanding community service.

Marathi Vishwa is pleased to announce the scholarship winners for year 2010. The scholarship winners for 2010 are:

  • Undergraduate Winner - 1st Place – Neelay Patil            
  • Undergraduate Winner - 2nd Place – Sharang Phadke    
  • Runner-Ups- Devavrat Chaudhary & Vidya Nandapurkar

Congratulations to Neelay, Sharang, Devavrat, Vidya and all other candidates.

2. MARATHI VISHWA ESSAY COMPETITION 2009


To help preserve and promote the interest of the younger generation in the culture and history of INDIA -the country their parents came from, Marathi Vishwa has conducted an essay competition for the last 10 years.
Essay topic is announced in June each year, last date to submit application is August 15 and the winners are announced at Marathi Vishwa’s Diwali program.

This year the subject of the essay was:
WHAT DOES MY INDIAN HERITAGE MEAN TO ME?

Limit: 1500 words.
Language: English

First Prize: $200 and Babasaheb Purandare Trophy
Second Prize: $ 150

  1. The competition is open to all Indian youths living outside India.
  2. Age limit 15 to 25 years.
  3. Please send a CD of your typed essay and hard copy by August 15 to the following address:
