SwaraDhara Classical Music Competition 2024
We are thrilled to announce that the SwaraDhara Classical Music Competition 2024 was a resounding success, thanks to your enthusiastic participation and generous support. After a hiatus of three years due to the pandemic, we were able to revive this event, which is one of the crown jewels of MV events and provides a unique live platform in the United States for students of Hindustani classical music.
The competition, held on February 24, 2024, witnessed a remarkable display of talent and passion from the participants, who came not only from New Jersey, but also from neighboring states such as New York, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. The results of the competition were announced at the end of the program and shared online yesterday. Heartiest congratulations to the winners!
We are grateful to the esteemed judges, who are renowned performers, exponents, flag bearers, and gurus of Hindustani classical music, and who graciously agreed to evaluate and mentor the participants. We wholeheartedly thank our accompanists who provided excellent harmonium and tabla saath. Thank you, Arjun Ramkrishnan, Ojas Limaye, Ram Parthasarathy, Rishabh Ramakrishnan, and Anirudh Ramakrishnan, and thank many volunteers who stepped up to help with various tasks throughout the day!
We also would like to acknowledge the efforts and contributions of the Board members, who were instrumental in the success of this competition. They are: Sheetal Gaiki, Anirudha Niwargi, Mandar Kelkar, Roopali Gune, and Priya Godbole.
As the name of this competition suggests, SwaraDhara, the flow of music, which will continue to live and grow through generations, as it has for centuries. Marathi Vishwa is proud to support the new and budding generations of musicians right here in the United States, and to promote the art form that nourishes the soul and enriches the culture.
