The MV Summer Picnic held this past Sunday, in Johnson Park, was a mini success. We met members age 3 to 97. If you missed it this year, don’t worry, we plan on having it each year.

This was a FREE event for members (a small fee to cover non-members) and though the day was hot, we were able to meet you all in an informal and fun setting. Members checking in were given free leis and we were happy to see that many of you dressed up to the nines for the best dressed competition. The photo booth was popular and after check-in and food tickets were given, we started the picnic games – musical chairs, limbu chamcha race and a small race for the young kids. Everyone got into the picnic spirit and we even had a Card elimination game while the Bhel was getting prepared. Bhel, Samosa and hot tea from Suma Foods gave the right feel of picnic. The Best Dressed Family/Couple and Baby competition was also held with a lot of cheering and clapping all around.

The July Birthday celebrations turned out to be a big super-duper hit and we had July born Chitnis Kaka, who turns 97 this year, join in in the celebration. It was really a lot of fun to see the community come together, mingle and enjoy not only the good weather but also each other’s company. We have now requests to keep the picnic next year in June or August to accommodate other birthday celebrations!!!
